Environmental issues of today are endangered species, dams, the greenhouse effect, global warming, anoxic waters, pollution, ozone, air quality, genetic pollution, soil erosion, nuclear issues, toxins, waste, sea level rise and many more. These problems are all created by human activity. Today environmental sciences are taught at Universities providing education that is valuable to the next generation. There are also a number of organizations that focus on this as well. The largest and more well known one is United Nations Environmental Program. It was founded in 1972 and takes care of the problems of all countries involved. The organization helps to promote solutions in all environmental problems, helps developing countries adapt eco friendly policies and monitors activities of nations. There are also other organizations that focus on the problems of the environment like Greenpeace and WWF.

One of the most common environmental issue is biodiversity. Biodiversity is the term used to describe the number of different species that exist. They can be plants, animals and micro organisms. It is also used to describe the different ecosystems, the desserts, the oceans, the rainforests and so on. The solution to the problems biodiversity is facing is to create a strategy that can sustain and assist that environment. Preserving biodiversity, species and their natural environment is very important as nature can sustain itself through this procedure. Climate change and especially global warming is another big problem that affects the eco system and needs our attention.

The human alone is responsible for the global warming everyone talks about and the numerous problems this situation brings. Energy insufficiency is also a big problem with most developed and rich countries really trying to find ways to solve it. Over consumption is also something caused only from humans and this can be easily stopped. Consuming too many things as well as over package of products creates more pollution that is also the cause of other things and the circle is endless. So every action counts.

The main way to save the environment comes from education. People should be educated and realize what is actually happening. There are many people that would normally not harm the environment but they do so because they lack information. There are many things a person can do to help the environment although most of us incorrectly believe that one person cannot make a difference.
