Procrastination is probably one of the most practiced non productive skill that we’ve learned, it is a vicious cycle as it harps and feeds on your last procrastination and gain more and more momentum in putting you off in doing your required work, so how do we get out of it and be more productive?

Here are 5 simple tips to help you get started and take control of procrastination:

What’s wrong?

If you’re not doing something that you know needs done, what is the matter and exactly what are stopping you from doing it? The best part about being a procrastinator is that we do not have to face the obstacle that is really stopping us from moving forward, as such we need to take control and start eliminating the very thing that are stopping us and get started.

Step by step plan

Rome was not built in 1 day, therefore it definitely helps if you have a step by step plan with a specific deadline. One of the most common reason why we procrastinate is because we’re simply overwhelmed by the amount of tasks that’s involved, simply by breaking them down into a step by step plan can help you get started.

Realistic

When you do set up a plan, you need to be realistic of the goal. What I mean is if your goal is still too big, we will end up not taking action again. It is very important for you to set a realistic goal which you can achieve, this way you will gain the momentum to keep going once you’ve achieved your first goal.

Get Going

The best way to get anything done is to actually start doing, no matter how difficult, how big, or how impossible the goal may seem. Getting started means stopping procrastinating, which can be reaffirm with every step you take.

Schedule your breaks

Taking breaks at a set interval can help you revitalize and energize your body and soul, which is beneficial to your brain. It can helps get you in better mind set and give you the energy you carry on. One advice though, do not abuse the breaks and fall back into being a procrastinator.

Procrastination is simply a habit, one that we must break by taking steps to combat it. Everytime you give in to that it’s strengthen, and therefore take the steps necessary to weaken it by not giving in and making a choice!
